Wingspan will continue to comply with State and Federal shelter-in-place and social distancing directives. As a Health and Human Services organization responsible for direct care of vulnerable adults, our company remains open as an essential provider.
We have staff 24/7 in our group homes and have increased all precautions and screening protocols, including daily temperature monitoring of clients and staff, and limiting visitors. Staff and visitor logs are required at all locations. Staff are receiving on-going and regular instructions regarding precautions, including social distancing, shelter in place, hand washing and disinfecting protocols. Group activities have been suspended, and non-essential medical appointments have been postponed. Wingspan’s nurse is closely monitoring our homes. Extra gloves, thermometers and cleaning supplies have been ordered for all locations. Grocery shopping is done online, with delivery or by utilizing pick-up method.
Day programs have closed, and many of our staff are making themselves available for additional hours. We have also increased our recruitment and training efforts (with appropriate social distancing in our Learning Lab) to ensure that we have additional staff as needed. In-Home Program services are being provided on a case-by-case basis, with all protocols observed. We have limited the access to our Plato campus, and our management and administrative staff at this location are primarily working from home or on a rotation schedule that limits contact with one another.
Team members remain in close communication via phone, text, email and video conferencing. Access to our Sherburne Office is likewise limited. In these times of stress and uncertainty, the mental and physical well-being of our clients and staff remain our highest priority.
This is a rapidly evolving situation and we are in close communication with the Minnesota Department of Health and the CDC. We will provide updates on our website, in our e-blasts, and on our FaceBook page.
If you are a family or guardian and have questions, please reach out to your House Coordinator or Program Director, or to me personally at email@example.com. Thank you for your patience and support during these challenging times. Our thoughts are with each of you; may we all work together to suppress the spread of this terrible disease.
